Baltic Power project – a joint venture of ORLEN Group and Northland Power - confirmed successful installation of the first three 15 MW turbines consisting of nacelles manufactured at Vestas’ facility in Szczecin. Installation of these nacelles marks a pivotal moment for the development of local content at the emerging Polish offshore wind industry. In total, 76 turbines will be installed on the Polish waters of the Baltic Sea with several nacelles coming from the Western-Pomeranian factory.

Baltic Power invitation to tender (RFI) for Marine Warranty Surveyor
Baltic Power intends to conduct and invites interested parties to participate in a Request for Information (RFI) for the services to be provided by Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) for the project. The services will be provided for the construction period of the offshore wind farm, which is planned to be conducted between 2024 and 2026.

Baltic Power appoints financial advisor for the project
A consortium comprising Pekao Investment Banking and Green Giraffe has been mandated as financial advisor for the offshore wind farm project Baltic Power. The two companies will be responsible for raising funding for the project, which is due to start in 2024, with commercial operation planned in 2026.

Baltic Power finalises geotechnical surveys of the Baltic Sea bed
Twelve specialised vessels are beginning the main phase of geotechnical surveys of the Baltic Sea bottom in the area of the planned wind farm and along the connection route. Completion of the tests is scheduled for later this year. The results will provide a basis for the development of a detailed plan of locations of the foundations for the turbines and offshore substations and their connection to the onshore transmission infrastructure.

Energy Regulatory Office awards support for Baltic Power wind farm
The Energy Regulatory Office has granted support for the Baltic Power project in the form of a 25-year Contract for Difference (CfD). Under the CfD, the project owner will receive payments covering any negative balance of electricity generated offshore and fed into the grid, which means that the project will be compensated for the potential difference between the market price of electricity and the strike price of the CfD.

PKN ORLEN finalises its strategic partnership with Northland Power on Baltic Power project
After fulfilment of the conditions precedent - including obtaining merger clearance - stipulated in the joint venture agreement signed in January 2021, NP Baltic Wind B.V. a subsidiary of Northland Power has subscribed for the shares in Baltic Power. The joint venture agreement provides for joint development and operation of the Baltic Power offshore wind farm, whose construction is scheduled for launch in 2023.

PKN ORLEN SELECTS STRATEGIC PARTNER FOR OFFSHORE WIND FARM PROJECT
Canadian Northland Power Inc. will be PKN ORLEN’s strategic partner for its offshore wind farm project in the Baltic Sea. The Partnership will be responsible for the preparation, development and operation of the offshore wind farm with a capacity of up to 1.2 GW. Northland Power Inc. will ultimately acquire a 49% interest in the project, due to start in 2023 and scheduled for commissioning in 2026.

ORLEN SECURES GRID CONNECTION AGREEMENT FOR ITS OFFSHORE WIND FARM
Baltic Power, a member of the ORLEN Group, has signed a grid connection agreement with Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne for its offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea. The agreement marks another milestone in preparations for the wind farm project, providing a guarantee that clean energy generated by offshore wind can be fed into the national power system.

PKN ORLEN will meet with potential offshore wind farm suppliers
PKN ORLEN and the special purpose vehicle Baltic Power are organising an online meeting with companies interested in cooperation in building offshore wind farms. During the meeting, the potential supply chain participants will be briefed about the status of preparations for the project, its timetable, and PKN ORLEN’s approach to cooperation with local suppliers.
