Transition elements of the Baltic Power farm foundations from Polish factories finish production. Construction moves offshore in January 2025

Smulders' Polish factories are in the final stages of manufacturing the key foundation elements for the Baltic Power offshore wind farm. These are the transition pieces that will connect the foundations to the wind turbines. Once assembled, they will set off for the transhipment port. Already in the first quarter of 2025, they will be installed at the first offshore wind farm in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea.

Tender for the Baltic Power Contract Engineer Service

The Baltic Power Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) is a project under development, located in the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone in the Baltic Sea. The offshore location license covers a total area of approximately 131 km2 and the buildable area available for installation of OWF components is approximately 100 km2. Offshore export cable route is located in Polish Exclusive Economic Zone, Baltic Territorial Sea and Internal Waters. Onshore part of the project is located in Choczewo Commune, Starosty of Wejherowo. Onshore export cable lines are located within the Choczewo Forest.

Baltic Power met for the third time with companies interested in participating in the construction and operation of an offshore wind farm

More than 400 people from 215 companies met at the Baltic Power Supply Chain Meeting 2022 in Sopot. The third edition of the Baltic Power conference focused on the key suppliers, who presented the scopes of the planned works, the schedules for their execution and the areas in which they are looking for Polish suppliers. The construction of the Baltic Power farm is planned for 2024 - 2026, and the participation of Polish companies in the project is estimated at around 25% over the entire life cycle of the farm.

Baltic Power project driving new investments

Poland’s first installation terminal to be located in Świnoujście and a turbine factory to be built by Vestas in Szczecin are two new investment projects now afoot in connection with the Baltic Power offshore wind farm. The joint venture project between the ORLEN Group and Northland Power will require 76 state-of-the-art 15 MW turbines from Vestas, whose components will be manufactured at the supplier’s new assembly factory in Szczecin. The turbine factory, to be manned by a staff of up to 700, is scheduled for completion in 2024, while the ORLEN Group’s installation terminal at the Port of Świnoujście will commence operations in 2025.

Baltic Power secures contracts for key components of the offshore wind farm

76 turbines, each with a capacity of 15 MW, will make up the Baltic Power wind farm. The Company has signed further reservation agreements with suppliers of key elements of the farm, including wind turbines, export cables and the onshore substation. The project is being developed jointly by ORLEN Group and Northland Power, with construction expected to start in 2024 and commerical operations in 2026. Polish companies are also involved in the supply chain for the project.

Baltic Power secures contracts for production of foundations and offshore substations

Baltic Power has signed contracts for the manufacture, delivery and installation of the offshore substations and foundations for its wind farm project located in the Baltic Sea. As agreed, some elements of foundations necessary for putting in place the turbines will be manufactured in Poland. By the end of this year, Baltic Power will secure contracts for all the main elements of the farm's infrastructure and services necessary to timely start the construction, scheduled for 2024. As per the schedule, the joint-venture project of the ORLEN Group and Northland Power will commence to generate zero-emission energy in 2026.

Baltic Power secured contract for transportation and installation of offshore wind turbines

A company has signed a reservation contract with Cadeler of Denmark for the transport and installation of some 70 turbines for the Baltic Power offshore wind farm – a joint project of PKN ORLEN and Northland Power Inc. In the next steps, the company will select contractors to supply the turbines, foundations, internal and export cables, to construct offshore and onshore substations, and to provide farm maintenance services. The project, planned to be executed between 2024 and 2026, will involve the construction of a wind farm with a total generating capacity of up to 1.2 GW.

Baltic Power – first project with completed geotechnical survey

For nine months, 13 specialised vessels were performing seabed tests over the wind farm site and along the power evacuation route. Based on the results, it will be possible to develop a final design of the foundations for about 70 wind turbines, offshore substations and cable connections to the onshore transmission infrastructure.

Baltic Power Forum 2022 – meeting with project stakeholders

More than 60 representatives from 30 institutions that are or will be involved in administrative procedures related to the preparation and implementation of offshore wind farm took part in a meeting organized on June 7 in Gdańsk. The event was addressed to stakeholders from the public administration sector, local government administration sector and institutions involved in the processes of obtaining key approvals, permits and administrative decisions.
