Beneficiaries of the 1st edition of Baltic Power's "Moc Bałtyku" grant programme announced

Beneficiaries of the 1st edition of Baltic Power's "Moc Bałtyku" grant programme announced

Thanks to the programme, many valuable social, environmental and educational projects in Łeba will receive financial support. The program is an initiative of Baltic Power which is building an offshore wind farm on the Baltic Sea. The Operations & Maintenance (O&M) base in Łeba, currently under construction, will service the farm for up to 30 years. The total budget of the first edition of the program was PLN 150.000.

Baltic Power, as a responsible investor, wants to actively participate in the life of the local community.  Thanks to the pilot edition of the "Moc Bałtyku" (en. "Power of the Baltic") program, we managed to identify the most important needs of Łeba residents. In the call for applications conducted in September, 19 local projects applied for funding. Each of them was evaluated in detail for compliance with the program's criteria. Initiatives with environmental, social, educational and cultural benefits were eligible for funding. Ultimately, support was granted to 12 projects. As a next step the beneficiaries will sign contracts and implement their projects.

"Moc Bałtyku" is not the only community support program implemented by Baltic Power. The company is also involved in the "Choczewo. Commune Powered by Wind" program supporting community initiatives from the Choczewo Commune, the place where the farm's onshore substation and cable connection are being built. The program is being carried out in cooperation with other offshore farm developers.

The Baltic Power offshore wind farm, a joint project between ORLEN and Northland Power, is the most advanced offshore wind project in Poland and the only one under construction. Work is progressing according to the schedule, which assumes that and the planned farm will integrate about 1.2 GW of power into the national energy system in 2026. At the same time, it will be one of the world's first farms using wind turbines of 15 MW each. Baltic Power will cover about 3% of Poland's energy needs, thereby reducing national CO2 emissions by about 2.8 million tons per year compared to conventional sources.
