Baltic Power highlights safety as core priority during Safety Day
On the 23rd of March 2026 across all offshore, onshore and office locations of the Baltic Power project, employees and contractors paused their daily activities to take part in Safety Day - a health, safety and environment (HSE) initiative aimed at strengthening awareness of the responsible safety practices that come with delivering an infrastructure project of such scale and complexity.
Rooted in the long-standing project principle of “Success Through Safety,” the initiative brought together employees and contractors working across the offshore and onshore construction sites in Choczewo commune, the Baltic Power service base in Łeba, the transshipment port in Rønne and numerous other project locations. All activities were temporarily paused to encourage reflection on safety awareness, risk prevention and the shared standards that guide daily work on the first offshore wind farm in Poland.
The presence of senior management across several sites emphasized the significance of the initiative. Safety Day created space to acknowledge the risks inherent to construction works and reinforce a collective responsibility shared by all individuals involved: to ensure that every person working on the project returns home safely at the end of each day.
“Our goal is not only to build the first Polish offshore wind farm, but to build it in a way that ensures every single person engaged in the project goes home safe and healthy everyday” said Maciej Stryjecki, CEO and President of the Management Board of Baltic Power. “Safety Day is about people, about all our employees and contractors and about those waiting for them at home. It’s about making the right decisions, like stopping work if one notices unsafe or risky conditions.”

The programme included presentations, scenario-based discussions, mitigation strategies, safety walks along with opportunities for open dialogue between teams and leadership. These exchanges play a key role in helping reduce incidents, strengthen preventive measures, foster a work environment that promotes health and productivity, and support effective cooperation between all contractors involved in all phases of the project.
“The offshore wind sector has some of the most demanding international HSE standards, and Baltic Power is committed not only to meeting them, but to continually improving on them by adapting global best practices to local conditions, anticipating risks early, and building a safety culture that supports everyone at every site.” - said Jens Poulsen, Senior Project Director and Board Member of Baltic Power.

As work continues progressing offshore and onshore, Safety Day serves as a reminder of Baltic Power’s commitment to maintaining the highest health and safety standards and to continuously empowering personnel to act proactively in ensuring both the safety of others and their own.
Baltic Power is the most advanced offshore wind project in Poland and the first to commence offshore installations. Once construction of the ~1,2 GW offshore wind farm is completed, up to 4 TWh of electricity will be generated annually, which stands for 3% of the current national demand. The farm is located approximately 23 km from the shore near Choczewo and Łeba, covering an area of 130 square kilometers. Baltic Power is scheduled to become operational in the second half of 2026.
