Baltic Power launched informational meetings with fishermen from the Polish coast
Baltic Power has started a series of informational meetings for representatives of the fishing community in Ustka, Leba and Władysławowo about the construction of Poland's first offshore wind farm. The topics addressed were the prospects for the development of offshore wind energy in Poland, and, above all, the planned start of installation work in the Baltic Sea at the end of this year.
The invitation was directed mainly to fishermen operating in fishing squares N7, N8 and O7, O8 - that is, the areas where the infrastructure of the Baltic Power farm will be located. A total of dozens of fishermen, owners of large trawling vessels as well as smaller fishing boats, participated in the meetings with the investor, which were held from April 24 to 26. Entrepreneurs involved in fishing tourism also took part in the discussion. Representatives of local governments and ports were also present.
Baltic Power experts presented both the project, its assumptions, the work schedule and the next stages of construction. They also described the construction technology of the wind farm itself, presenting photos of the equipment that will be used during the realization of the project. The construction of Baltic Power was also presented in the context of the energy transition process of the Polish economy, emphasizing that the farm itself, which is being built jointly by ORLEN and Northland Power, will supply about 3 percent of Poland's total electricity demand to the National Power System.
On behalf of Baltic Power, the meeting was attended by those persons who are responsible for cooperation with stakeholders, dealing with environmental issues and supervising the construction phase. At the end, all attendees took part in surveys. Their results will serve Baltic Power in estimating the real impact of the investment on the work and future of fishermen operating in the Baltic Sea.
In initiating meetings with the fishing community, Baltic Power announced that meetings with representatives of this professional group are going to be continued. The next in the series is scheduled for the end of August 2024.
Fishermen interested in taking part in the survey are invited to complete a specially designed questionnaire, which is available at: https://bit.ly/AnkietaRybacka
